Are you an experienced Financial Accountant looking to take your career to the next level? We’re seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Financial Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial information. This position is full-time based in our Devonport or Launceston office in Tasmania.

Key Responsibilities:

  • End-of-Month Reconciliations: Lead the month-end closing processes, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and overseeing bank reconciliations.

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly financial reports in line with organisational requirements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and industry regulations.

  • Compliance and Regulatory Reporting: Handle GST, FBT returns, and assist with audits, ensuring adherence to accounting policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Internal Controls & Process Improvement: Contribute to the development of internal controls, suggest process improvements, and support efficient financial systems.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Finance Manager, operational teams, and other stakeholders to align financial goals and provide support and guidance to junior staff.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in Business or Commerce (with an accounting major) and a CPA or CA qualification (or working towards it).

  • Experience: 3-5 years of accounting experience with a strong background in month-end reconciliations and financial reporting.

  • Skills: Proficiency in accounting software, ERP systems, and advanced Microsoft Excel. Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards and tax regulations.

  • Analytical Mindset: Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to identify and resolve financial discrepancies.

  • Communication: Ability to clearly present financial information to non-financial stakeholders and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
