Respect are currently seeking a passionate and skilled Food Services Cook to join our catering team in our Cohuna facility in Victoria. In this role, you will work under the guidance of the Chef Supervisor to prepare, cook, and serve nutritious, well-presented meals that meet the individual needs of our aged care residents. As a Cook, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality in-house meals that are both nourishing and appealing. You will be responsible for maintaining food safety standards and ensuring all dietary needs are met in accordance with clinical directions and the organisation’s Food Safety Program.
You will also assist in maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment while working collaboratively with the wider catering and care team.
Prepare, cook, and serve meals in line with resident preferences, dietary needs, and nutritional guidelines.
Assist with the provision and presentation of meals, ensuring a high standard of food and beverage service.
Cater to special dietary requirements as prescribed by the dietitian, speech therapist, or clinical care team to ensure all nutritional and hydration needs are met.
Ensure all kitchen operations comply with the organisation's Food Safety Program (FSP), including documentation and monitoring.
Maintain kitchen cleanliness, safety, and hygiene in line with organisational standards and legislative requirements.
Report stock shortages and assist in stock control and ordering as required by the Chef Supervisor.
Work both independently and collaboratively to complete daily tasks in a professional and timely manner.
Promote and adhere to safe work practices in all catering activities.
Support a positive team environment and assist other catering staff as needed.
Undertake other duties as reasonably directed within the scope of the role and skill set.
Essential:
Completion of a Food Handling Course.
A relevant qualification such as Certificate III in Hospitality – Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
A current National Police Certificate (or ability to obtain).
Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and dietary compliance in a kitchen setting.
Desirable:
Previous experience in residential aged care and/or hospitality.
Experience working with vulnerable populations and understanding of their dietary and hydration needs.
