About the Role

Respect's Cooinda aged care home has been an important community asset for Lithgow since 1968. The home has seen various additions and upgrades over the past 50 years and the recent addition of a brand new 36 bed wing signals the exciting next stage of development for Cooinda. With 84 single rooms, including a secure 12 bed memory support unit, private ensuites and state-of-the-art amenities, we offer the most comprehensive range of services, including residential aged care, palliative care, secure dementia care and respite care.

We’re seeking an experienced and motivated Care Manager to lead the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care within our aged care facility. This is a full-time, onsite leadership role where your clinical expertise and guidance will directly shape the wellbeing and quality of life of our residents.

In this role, you’ll work closely with residents, families, and care teams to ensure care is safe, responsive, and tailored to individual needs. You’ll be a trusted leader on the floor—supporting staff, guiding best practice, and ensuring clinical standards are consistently met.

This is an opportunity to step into a role where your leadership makes a visible and meaningful impact every day. You’ll be part of a supportive, values-driven environment that prioritises dignity, respect, and quality care for every resident.

We’re looking for someone who leads with confidence and empathy, communicates effectively, and thrives in a collaborative team environment. If you’re passionate about aged care and committed to delivering excellence, this role offers the chance to make a real difference.

Join us and help create a home where residents feel safe, supported, and valued every day.

No two days are the same!

As Care Manager you will:

  • Lead and contribute to a collaborative team environment to ensure high-quality, person-centred care is delivered to residents and their representatives.
  • Mentor, support, and guide staff, promoting excellence in clinical care, lifestyle services, and team capability development.
  • Ensure duty of care is upheld by adhering to organisational policies, professional codes of conduct, ethical standards, and legislative requirements.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on clinical practices, ensuring alignment with best practice standards, governance frameworks, and compliance requirements.
  • Participate in quality systems including audits, reviews, data analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance care outcomes.
  • Oversee care planning processes in collaboration with residents, families, and clinical teams, ensuring responsive and individualised care delivery.
  • Contribute to staff development through training, performance reviews, mentoring, and support of education and capability-building initiatives.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with internal teams, external providers, and community stakeholders while remaining responsive to operational needs, including after-hours availability when required.

About You

You’ll thrive with us if you have:

  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing (Registered Nurse) for aged care facilities, or Nursing Diploma (Enrolled Nurse) for Victorian-based hostels.
  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).  Minimum 3 years’ experience in residential aged care.
  • Strong working knowledge of Aged Care Quality Standards, Aged Care Act principles, documentation standards, residents’ rights, and relevant funding instruments and legislation.
  • Well-developed clinical knowledge and skills aligned with contemporary nursing practice.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with residents, families, and staff.
  • Current National Police Certificate (or willingness/ability to obtain).
  • Previous experience in nursing leadership and/or involvement in accreditation processes (desirable).

Perks & Benefits

  • As a not-for-profit you can reduce your tax by salary packaging up to $15,900 per year for living expenses, bills, rent, mortgage and groceries. Take advantage of a further $2,650 to pay for meals out or holiday accommodation
  • Training and development pathways
  • Supportive leaders who are onsite
  • A friendly, down-to-earth workplace
