General Manager - Aged Care | Make a Real Impact in Your Community

At Emerald Avalon, we see residents as individuals, not patients. Here, staff and residents often become like extended family, creating a warm and welcoming environment where everyone feels a strong sense of belonging. It's a place where meaningful friendships flourish and residents are supported to stay active and connected—both within our home and in the wider Emerald community.

Are you a passionate and experienced leader in aged care ready to take the next step in your career? We’re looking for a committed and capable General Manager to lead our Emerald Avalon residential aged care facility, ensuring the highest standards of care, compliance, and operational excellence.

At Respect Emerald Avalon, staying socially active is part of everyday life. From arts and crafts twice a week to movie afternoons, bingo, live entertainment, and regular barbecues, there’s always something happening. Residents enjoy weekly visits from our intergenerational playgroup, shopping trips, community outings, and even the chance to get their hands dirty with our gardening group. It’s all thoughtfully planned by our social care team to help everyone feel connected, engaged, and free to join in at their own pace.

Our mission is simple – to care for the elderly in our communities in an environment of respect, value and belonging. If this aligns with your values, we’d love to hear from you.

About the Role

As the General Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operational, personnel, and compliance matters within the facility. You’ll lead with integrity, empathy and confidence, ensuring the delivery of high-quality resident-focused care, while managing budgets, regulatory compliance and team performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the delivery of exceptional care and support services in accordance with organisational goals and aged care standards
  • Promote the facility to potential residents and their families with warmth and professionalism
  • Ensure operational compliance with the Aged Care Act 1997, Quality Standards, and organisational policies
  • Drive continuous improvement through audits, quality systems and accreditation readiness
  • Manage financial performance to meet approved budgets and funding objectives
  • Provide leadership, coaching and direction to multidisciplinary staff, fostering a culture of care, integrity, and collaboration
  • Ensure mandatory reporting and documentation is completed with timeliness and accuracy
  • Represent the facility in internal strategy and external partnerships, including health professionals and community services

What You Will Bring

The Must Haves:

  • Strong clinical skills in line with current best practice (in aged care preferably)
  • Proven leadership and people management experience
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Current National Police Check (or ability to obtain)
  • Financial management, budgeting and rostering expertise
  • Experience leading through organisational change

Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Nursing (Registered Nurse)
  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in residential aged care
  • Sound knowledge of aged care legislative frameworks, funding, and accreditation standards

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a purpose-driven organisation with a clear mission to support our elderly community
  • Join a supportive executive team and contribute to broader strategic direction
  • Access to not-for-profit salary packaging to increase your take-home pay
  • Ongoing professional development and training opportunities
  • A values-led workplace culture built on respect, care, teamwork, integrity and innovation

Together, let’s create a world where the elderly feel respected, valued and enjoy a quality of life.
