Make a difference every day with Respect Aged Care

At Respect, we believe everyone deserves to age with dignity, respect and choice. Our Food Services Assistants play an important role in creating a welcoming dining experience for our residents and ensuring they receive nutritious, enjoyable meals every day.

We are currently seeking a Food Services Assistant to join our team, with additional cooking responsibilities on weekends.

About the Role

As a Food Services Assistant, you will support the day-to-day delivery of meals and catering services within our residential aged care home. On weekends, you will take on additional cooking duties, helping to ensure our residents continue to receive high-quality, nutritious meals.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the preparation and delivery of meals, snacks and beverages

  • Preparing and cooking meals on weekends in accordance with menus and recipes

  • Ensuring meals are prepared to meet residents' dietary, nutritional and texture-modified requirements

  • Assisting with plating, serving and meal distribution

  • Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness

  • Cleaning kitchen equipment, utensils and food preparation areas

  • Following food safety procedures and organisational policies

  • Supporting stock rotation, storage and general kitchen duties

  • Working collaboratively with the broader care and hospitality team

  • Creating a positive dining experience for our residents

About You

We are looking for someone who is passionate about food and enjoys making a difference in the lives of older people.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience in a kitchen, food service or hospitality environment

  • Experience preparing and cooking meals, particularly in a commercial or aged care setting

  • An understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements

  • The ability to follow recipes, menus and dietary requirements accurately

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • A caring and respectful approach when working with older people

  • The ability to work independently and confidently when required

  • Flexibility and availability to work weekends

Experience in aged care is highly regarded, but not essential for the right candidate.
