About the Role

Costa House in Lara is more than an aged care home—it’s a place where you can grow your career while making a real difference. Our 120-bed facility, set on 65 peaceful acres, offers staff a supportive, close-knit team environment and the resources to deliver high-quality care for residents with a range of needs.  With modern rooms, expansive gardens, and easy access to local shops and community activities, our home combines a tranquil, healthy lifestyle with meaningful, rewarding work. At Costa House, you’re not just joining a workplace—you’re becoming part of a community that cares.

Are you a hands-on professional who takes pride in keeping environments safe and functional? We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Officer to join our team on a full-time basis, offering stability, variety, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day.

This is more than just a maintenance role — it’s an opportunity to become a valued part of a close-knit community. In this position, you will play an essential role in ensuring our buildings, equipment, and outdoor areas are maintained to a high standard, supporting the comfort, safety, and wellbeing of our residents.

You’ll be part of a supportive team that values reliability, initiative, and pride in workmanship. If you’re a hands-on professional who enjoys variety and takes satisfaction in a job well done, we would love to hear from you.

No two days are the same! As Maintenance Officer you will:

  • Carry out general repairs and maintenance, including plumbing, carpentry, painting, and minor electrical tasks, keeping the facility running smoothly.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to ensure buildings, equipment, and systems are safe, reliable, and well maintained.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests, troubleshoot issues, and prioritise urgent repairs to support residents and staff.
  • Maintain outdoor areas and grounds, ensuring gardens, pathways, and external spaces are safe, tidy, and welcoming.
  • Monitor the overall condition of the facility, report hazards or larger repairs, maintain tools and records, and contribute to a safe working environment.

About You

You’ll thrive with us if you have:

  • Demonstrated experience in general maintenance or a similar hands-on role
  • Practical knowledge of building maintenance, including basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, and minor repairs
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and respond to urgent tasks
  • Sound understanding of Workplace Health & Safety requirements and safe work practices
  • Current driver’s licence
  • National Police Check (and relevant sector clearances as required)
  • Strong communication skills and a respectful, professional manner

Perks & Benefits

  • As a not-for-profit you can reduce your tax by salary packaging up to $15,900 per year for living expenses, bills, rent, mortgage and groceries. Take advantage of a further $2,650 to pay for meals out or holiday accommodation
  • Training and development pathways
  • Supportive leaders who are onsite
  • A friendly, down-to-earth workplace
  • Opportunity to build a long-term career in aged care
