Media and Communications Manager

Respect - Where Every Story Matters.

At Respect, we’re more than an aged care provider - we’re a national, purpose-led organisation redefining what it means to age with dignity. With over 100 years of service and a growing footprint across Australia, our vision is to make life better for older Australians, every single day.

We’re on the lookout for a Media and Communications Manager with a passion for storytelling, brand building, and purpose driven messaging to help amplify our voice and strengthen our national reputation. Ideally, you’re a communications unicorn; someone who can confidently craft media responses, write heartfelt and engaging stories for both staff and customers, develop compelling ad copy, and think strategically while building genuine relationships across all levels of the organisation.

If that sounds like you, amazing! But even if you’re not a master of every area, but just a gun in some of them, we still want to hear from you. We value potential, passion, and the right attitude just as much as experience. This role is remote, open to applicants Australia wide.

Your Role at a Glance

As our Media and Communications Manager, you'll lead and execute a dynamic communications strategy that drives Respect’s brand visibility and impact, both externally and internally. You’ll bring our values to life across every touchpoint: from compelling media releases and digital content to engaging internal comms and inspiring newsletter stories.

Key Responsibilities

  • Public Relations & Media: Lead proactive and reactive PR efforts, foster media relationships, and position Respect as a leading voice in aged care.
  • Internal Communications: Drive employee engagement through clear, inspiring, and timely communications across our frontline and corporate teams.
  • External Communications: Craft impactful messaging for residents, families, and the broader community across all channels.
  • Storytelling: Write and curate authentic stories for our website, blog, newsletters, and social media that reflect the lives, voices, and values of our community.
  • Content Development: Produce high-quality content including articles, speeches, campaign copy, and multimedia content.
  • Website and Digital: Collaborate with digital and marketing team members to ensure content aligns with SEO best practices and brand tone.
  • Brand Management: Ensure consistency across all brand materials and platforms while helping evolve the Respect brand to reflect our growing national presence.

Who You Are

  • A confident, purpose-led communicator with 5+ years' experience in communications, PR, or journalism.
  • A natural storyteller with a flair for writing authentic, engaging content.
  • A strategic thinker who can translate complex ideas into clear, compelling messaging.
  • Experienced in brand and media management, preferably in a health, aged care, or not-for-profit setting.
  • Comfortable working across multiple channels: digital, print, internal systems, and media.
  • Passionate about making a meaningful impact through your work.

Why Choose Respect?

  • Purpose led culture: Everything we do is driven by our mission: to care for older Australians with compassion, dignity, and respect.
  • Growth & impact: Join a fast-growing national organisation where your work will directly influence how communities see and experience aged care.
  • Flexibility: We offer flexible work arrangements, supporting work-life balance.
  • Career development: Ongoing training, support, and leadership opportunities in a values-driven environment.
