Respect Avonlea, located in Nhill, Victoria, is seeking an experienced, caring, and passionate Registered Nurse to join our team on a full-time basis, working 38 hours per week.

About the Position

The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing safe, competent, and contemporary clinical nursing care to residents within the scope of practice as determined by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

On a day-to-day basis, this position will report to the Care Manager and General Manager, with indirect reporting to other organisational management representatives as required.

Key Duties

  • Compile comprehensive resident histories from residents and/or family members to identify care needs through participation in resident admissions and ongoing assessments.
  • Maintain a high standard of clinical documentation that accurately reflects the care provided.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly evaluate resident care plans in accordance with individual care needs and organisational requirements.
  • Assist with resident admission assessments and ongoing clinical assessments.
  • Provide direct clinical care to residents as required, which may include personal hygiene, pain management, wound care, clinical monitoring, and participation in GP rounds.
  • Administer medications safely and assume responsibility for correct medication ordering, storage, administration, and documentation in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with residents, families, care staff, health professionals, and management to ensure high-quality, person-centred care.
  • Respond appropriately to changes in residents' health and wellbeing and escalate clinical concerns when required.
  • Support a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all residents and staff.

Essential Requirements

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Aged Care Quality Standards and relevant aged care legislation and requirements.
  • Knowledge of the Residential Classification Scale and relevant aged care assessment processes.
  • Current National Police Certificate or the ability to obtain one.
  • Strong clinical assessment, medication management, and documentation skills.
  • Understanding of the aged care accreditation and compliance process.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, person-centred care to older Australians.

To be considered for employment with Respect, each candidate must satisfy the legislative requirements of Aged Care Worker Screening to ensure suitability to work in the aged care industry.
