Tongala Memorial is seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Social Care Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis.  This rewarding role involves working one 4-hour shift each Thursday, supporting our residents to participate in meaningful lifestyle and social activities that enhance their wellbeing, independence and quality of life. There is also the opportunity to work additional hours covering planned leave and sick leave when required.

About the Role: As a Social Care Assistant, you will help facilitate a range of individual, group and community-based lifestyle activities that reflect each resident's physical, social, cultural and spiritual needs, interests and preferences.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing social profiles for new residents and contributing to individual social care plans.
• Assisting with the planning, delivery and evaluation of lifestyle and activity programs.
• Supporting residents to participate in meaningful and engaging activities.
• Maintaining resources and equipment used within the activities program.
• Preparing newsletters, activity notices and other resident communications.
• Assisting with the recruitment, support and coordination of volunteers.
• Working collaboratively with residents, families and the broader care team.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Essential:

• Certificate III or IV in Aged Care, Individual Support, Leisure & Health, Community Services, or a related discipline.
• Current National Police Check (or willingness to obtain one).
• Empathy, patience and a genuine passion for supporting older people.
• An understanding of the diverse cultural, social and personal needs of residents.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic administrative and organisational skills.
