Respect Aged Care are seeking a proactive and reliable Gardener to join our team on a full-time basis at our Derwent Views Home in Lindisfarne, Tasmania.

About the Role

This gardening-focused role supports the general maintenance and visual upkeep of the home's exterior spaces. You will be primarily responsible for garden care, working alongside the Maintenance Supervisor to help manage the overall cleanliness and appearance of the home’s outdoor areas and building surrounds.

We are looking for someone who is hands-on, reliable, and has basic gardening and maintenance abilities, including the use of common outdoor equipment. An eye for detail and an understanding of seasonal garden care will go a long way.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general gardening duties including mowing, edging, pruning, weeding, watering, and planting.
• Use basic gardening equipment such as mowers, whipper snippers, blower vacs, gurneys, and general hand tools.
• Tend to established garden beds with care and attention to seasonal needs and ongoing upkeep.
• Support the Maintenance Supervisor with the external care of the building, including cleanliness of outdoor areas and minor tasks.
• Maintain tidy and hazard-free outdoor walkways and seating areas.
• Assist with general cleaning of facility grounds and minor support for building upkeep.
• Monitor and maintain gardening equipment and supplies.
• Participate in scheduled and seasonal garden tasks and projects.
• Be available for on-call duties if required.
• Complete other reasonable tasks within your skills as directed.

Essential Criteria

• Basic experience or interest in gardening and outdoor maintenance
• Ability to safely operate basic gardening tools and machinery
• Willingness to work outdoors and complete physical tasks
• Current Driver’s Licence
• Current National Police Certificate (or willingness to obtain)

Desirable Criteria

• Interest or experience in landscaping, horticulture, or garden care
• Familiarity with aged care, retirement living, or similar settings
• An eye for detail and pride in maintaining well-presented outdoor areas
• Ability to follow seasonal gardening schedules and prepare for weather changes
• Reliable, team-oriented attitude with good communication skills
